Tried my first Irish Coffee at the Buena Vista this past weekend. I first discovered the drink on a show called Drinking Made Easy. I walked in, sat down at the bar I must of counted 20 small coffee glasses lined up next to each other. Next the bartender dropped 2 sugar cubes in each glass. Then he followed up by pouring scorching hot water in each one and lastly adding the liquor. It was one of the best drinks I’ve tasted. Mostly because it was freezing outside and the coffee was nice and warm. I really enjoyed the drink so much it nearly put me to sleep. Will return to this place some time soon to try it again.
WOW WOW WOW! Those are the 3 words that come to mind when I think about my experience at Square so far. There is something so magical inside of the Square building. The people are so nice and the ideas are constantly flowing. I remember my first day like it was yesterday. I was downstairs in the lobby waiting along with others for our first days orientation. When someone came down to get us they handed me my badge and that moment alone was beyond overwhelming. It was for real! it was really happening! The hard work I put in since 2010 was really coming to life. So we headed upstairs and right when we walked through the doors my jaw dropped. I honestly couldn’t focus on what anyone was saying because it didn’t feel real. I was amazed by the office and could sense hard work being put in all around me. So much has happened in the past 3 weeks that I could go on and on in this blog but I’ll just wrap it all up by saying I’m at the greatest job anyone could ever ask for. I don’t ever want this experience to end. Lastly I want to say my 1st encounter with Jack was so AWESOME! He told the company I had an amazing story and had me stand up for a round of applause. Couldn’t believe the co founder of Twitter asked me to stand for a round of applause.
Never ever give up on your dreams! Work hard and do whatever it takes to make it and you will be respected and given a chance at ANYTHING!
Change of Plans
So Saturday night I was talking to my friend Ryan Lee, who lived in San Francisco for a while and he asked me a question that threw me for a loop “Why are you bringing your car?”. Well If you’re reading this blog there’s a good chance your from Houston like me and around here you have to drive EVERYWHERE. Well after speaking to more and more people who are living in SF they all said the same thing…”Leave the car behind”. The reason everyone is saying the same thing is because everyone gets around by their transit system. Not to mention parking is very limited out there and if you don’t have a permit to park on the street then you will be towed and the permit is only good for a quadrant of SF. People just don’t really drive around there. This really sucks because if you read my last blog I was really excited to drive out and explore Arizona and the coast of California. Worst of all, I just paid off my car and had it fully serviced! After a few years it’s finally paid off and I can’t even drive it! I’m now going to be flying out Saturday at 5am and should arrive in SF by 12:30pm. This is good and bad…good because I no longer have to sit in a car for 27 hours driving and bad because I’m going to have to leave even more things behind.
The feeling kind of feels like when people randomly ask you, “If your house caught on fire, what are the 3 things you would take?”. Except this is more like “If you could fit anything from your room into 1 bag of luggage what would you take?” and that’s the situation I’m in. The bad thing with me is I get attached to a lot of the things that I own and I’m a collector of several things. I wish I could take it all but the reality is I’m only taking Clothes, Laptop and of course my camera gear. This really sucks because I’m leaving SOOOOO many things behind that I want to take. I guess it sucks because I have no idea when I’ll be back to see all those things again.
Well that’s enough of my rant. On the bright side I get 3 more days of family and friends time. I might just go to Galveston tomorrow morning and enjoy some last minute time out there and hang out with a rita near the beach. Excited to start my new job on Monday!
